Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) is perhaps the most important 20th century philosopher in the western world. But, how his ideas created profound interests in all other continents? How far Heidegger was a “child of his time”, who was blind for some of the developments and never ceased to take specific stands on politics in virtue of his philosophy? Why his thoughts, strongly associated with religion and existentialism, are still exceptionally time-transcending?
Dr. Matthias Kross, academic staff member at the Einstein Forum, Berlin, and a specialist in Hermeneutic and Linguistic Philosophy, teaches at the University of Potsdam. He is also a Guest Lecturer in Viswabharati University, Shantiniketan.
