About the event

FestO’Comm or Festival of Communication has the distinction of being the largest on-campus communication festival in India. Since its genesis in the millennium year, Fest O’ Comm or FOC is the annual magnum opus of SIMC. True to its name, the event brings out the vibrancy of the field of communication. A seamless melange of seminars and cultural events usher in a novel concept of student festivals that encompasses interactive learning with entertainment.

Fest O’ Comm ‘09 would take place between 6-8th February 2009 at Symbiosis Lavale Campus, Pune. A lush 300-acre residential campus, Lavale is the newest addition to our world-class educational campuses. The event would attract students from top-notch degree and post-graduate colleges all across India as participants. The seminars would have India’s top professionals from Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism, Animation and Audio-Visual Production, amongst others, addressing the audience.

The Theme

The theme for Fest O’ Comm ‘09 is ‘In the click of time,’ echoing the aspect of immediacy in modern life. Delivery across distances and time zones is no longer a concern, only speed and urgency drive the impact of a message. Communication has evolved to meet this need for instant action and reaction through information technology and media in many spheres. In recognition of this nature of 21st century communication, we invite you to take a closer look at the world of media with people who’ve helped shape the way things are today. Stalwarts such as Alyque Padamsee and R.K. Lakshman and young turks such as Nandita Das, Rahul Bose are just some of our guiding lights in this quest to understand the media and communication industry better.
