Homeschooling is exactly that: Parents bring the syllabus home and teach it in creative ways. In addition they understand their children’s moods, rhythms, best learning styles and even best time of the day for a certain activity…They know how to strengthen weak areas and build on existing strengths.
In the US, homeschooling parents gather portfolios of their children’s projects and it is sufficient to get into colleges of their choice.
In India, children sit exams such as IGCSE and NOS as external students and join college thereafter. It has been some years now that homeschoolers are well received in colleges and universities in the US.
Unschooling is learning and growing in freedom. John Holt, author of books such as “How Children Learn” and “Why Children Fail”, seems to have inspired tens of thousands of parents worldwide.
Unschooling parents allow children complete freedom to learn and grow naturally and organically.
There is no imposed curriculum or pre conceived notions of what a child should or should not know or do. Fear for their children’s future is replaced by full faith, that the child having had a truly holistic education will manifest her or his best future, in alignment with her true nature and in harmony with the new direction the world must now take.
