DAY 01
A farm with a difference! A personal muse of two hardy bikers, The Farm, is all about giving yourself a healthy treat! Nothing beats the good ‘ol home food and that’s why everything served in the restaurant is from the farm…. We start the day with some theory and get into field sessions right away to practice the basics of light, composition and functions of the camera. The Farm is a perfect place for photo opportunities – the cattle being fed, the poultry being set out to strut their stuff, the morning prayers and a pool to splash around! With the promise of an unforgettable dinner, we move into the review session to close the day.

DAY 02
The day for refining your skills! We head out to get a dose of South Indian architecture, arts & crafts and some great food at Dakshin Chitra… The day gets even more exciting as we stop for a splash in the pool and some yummy cake at Anna’s Eternity! Acres of sandy land planted to make a forest – a true wonder with time to unwind or click away.. We arrive in Pondicherry to learn more tricks about shooting in the dark in a fun filled night and some review.

DAY 03
One has to click the sunrise if you are on the east coast of the country! Some time on indoor shooting with studio conditions and then we head out to soak in the French connection with a heritage walk…. This is the night to get to know each other better. So bring your own booze and clink glasses to lasting associations!

Arul & Dipesh (aka The Fat Bastards) take their food seriously! After years of biking in India to find the food that got their palettes tingling, The Farm was a natural extension of what they like to do – Eat & Feed! Acres of land on the outskirts of Chennai houses poultry, horses, veggies and tons of things that yummy the tummy! Famous for exclusive recipes & an easygoing ambience, The Farm is short for ‘Pure Indulgence’. We will be sharing the rooms on a double or triple occupancy!

A heady rush for the sensibilities of all photography enthusiasts! We promise you complete immersion into the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of a unique milieu – culture and food! A challenge for the palette as well as the camera, Photography Onthemove takes you from a fantastic farm in Chennai right into the sun splashed Pondicherry, with a stop over to peek into the traditional South Indian homes. So we brave the incongruity of French Villas & Sambhar and make them one over three days of a rigorous photography workshop. Join the Onthemove team every April for exploring your cameras and the love of travel!

Helmuth Conz – Instructor Profile Hellmuth Conz, though a German by birth has called India home for over a decade now. A photographer with an ardent love for India, he has been inspired by its vibrant aura, culture, colours and people. India has been his muse for as long as he can remember.

Hellmuth’s love story with the camera began at a very young age. At the age of fourteen he began formal training and graduated in photography from the University of Hamburg. People have always been his favorite subject, with their varying moods, gestures and expressions. He also loves architecture – the way light plays with the elements of the building, differently at different times of the day captures his imagination. Never one to sit at a desk, he freelanced as a photographer for a long time before taking up teaching. Today, he is a mentor and teacher to many budding photographers in Bangalore. The Meister is a veteran at exhibits and can be seen regularly at shows in Bangalore alongside his students, encouraging their initial attempts.

In his words, photographs are visual verses that awaken forgotten memories and inspire dreams. He believes that it is not the camera but the person behind it, who can capture the essence of his subject and create magic. He says it’s just not about learning the technical aspects but nurturing one’s creative side as well. He encourages his students to learn on analog as well as digital cameras.

Hellmuth teaches at Christ College, Mount Carmel College, Garden City College and Shrishti School of Art and Technology in Bangalore. Hellmuth leads the Photography ‘ONTHEMOVE’ trips/workshops along with our travel experts and is working on alternative photography concepts for “getoff ur ass” .
